2018 Bread & Butter Napa Valley Petite Sirah
20 months on 40% new French Oak
Rich in color, velvety and intensely smooth from start to finish, this wine is from a single vineyard in the Napa Valley. Bold, dark boysenberry and black plum play with the earthy undertones of black pepper and anise. The bold structure and chewy tannins combine with notes of toasted oak and cocoa, leading to a complete, full finish.
Petite Sirah from the Napa Valley is known for being bold with dark black and blue fruit notes. It’s becoming more and more rare to find a 100% Petite Sirah in Napa Valley – making this wine a delicious and memorable treat.
The beautiful conditions kicked off with a sunny spring that led to the vines flowering uniformly and ensuring even cluster development. Summer temperatures were steady, and the Valley befitted from a long, slow Harvest without heat spikes or rain. The grapes for this wine experienced extended hang time with warm days and cool nights, allowing the grapes to reach their full ripeness and expression. The complex, layered and high-quality wines of this vintage, especially the powerful reds which will continue to age gracefully, will be remembered and celebrated in years to come.
